So the saying goes...a wooden overcoat.
The exact replica of the new wooden overcoat for the 'Unknown Soldier' of New Zealand who was disinterred from Caterpillar Valley cemetery in the Somme region of France and reinterred at the National War Memorial, Wellington, New Zealand November 2004 to represent all those lost in conflict.
Replica was made at the same time as the original new coffin and is now held at the Waiouru Army Museum with the original headstone of the unknown soldier taken from his grave at Caterpillar Valley.
The paintings in the background represent those that were there to see the soldiers procession to the new resting place. Two of the figures old soldiers wearing their medals and poppies.
