Muscovy Duck
The muscovy duck is a large duck which is native to Mexico, Central and South America.
Muscovies had already been domesticated by various native American cultures in the New World when Columbus arrived.
The first few specimen were brought to Europe by the European explorers in the 16th century.
Very remarkable : although the muscovy duck is a tropical bird, it adapts trouble free to icy and snowy conditions down to –12°C and even below !

German name : Moschusente
Latin name : Cairina moschata
