Greece North Aegean Sea Chios island Mesta village
Chios is a big and rich island in the North Aegean Sea loaded with history since the ancient times.The island thrived especially in medieval times when was under the Genovese occupation.As a sequence to that the island has many villages with an architecture that stands a constant reminder of that medieval past. The most famous of these villages is Mesta.
I had to do photography at..daybrake to avoid visitors!

It really is amazing how they used to build such places without any of the mechanical aids we have today, only their bare hands and a great deal of ingenuity...and they have stood the test of time.

fascinating these massive old stone walls and cobble stone street .... a great capture from this pov and well exposed with great clarity and excellent sharp details throughout ... the local woman brings life and colour into the scene !!!
