Lone Drummer

Originally a colour pic, this has been modified (contrast and gamma correction), in order to reduce interference created by colour and random shapes, as to reproduce - I hope - the the essence of drumming. :)

I LOVE IT! Coming from a photographer/artist/musician such as myself...you gotta love it!

I love the mood to this,.....and the overpowering shadows adds a mystic feel to the moment,....

...as they say,.." different strokes for different folks! ".

The point of not seeing too much of the drummer is obviously part of the idea. While all other band members are occupying center to front stage, the drummer is hidden behind his drumkit at the back of the stage. All you do is hear him. In this picture, the drummer is seen from above, which means that in order to maintain the nature of his stage existence, he has to almost disappear and be reduced to hands and drumsticks, while the drumkit itself is still (more or less) visible.
+ on the note of too much black, always remember Spinal Tap ... "It's like, how much more black could this be? and the answer is none."

And in stark contrast to Graham....I think its too dark (especially given the title and that I can't see the drummer).

The top down view of a full drum kit though is an excellent idea. Lots of strong shapes......if you could see them !! ;-)

    Take care.

very effective, the lighting is perfect at conveying the mood. the black being so black is brilliant ( if you get what i mean )
