Kenya Wilderbeast At The Lake

This poem is about a little boy in Kenya. He is somewhat bewildered about the stark contrast to our different ways of living. He begins by asking questions but is really giving answers.

The Inquisitive Mind

Now I know bombs are tear shaped
, and the world is round
So why is it when the tear
, hit's the round
With that god awful sound
, I get thrown to the ground
And when I awaken
, there is no one around
Just a sticky red yoke
, is all to be found?

They say drugs has you hazy
, and drink drives you crazy
So I guess I will just stay lazy
, and remain in bed
You see I haven't been fed
Now I know some people are mean
, they are never to be seen
And are never very keen
, to help the poor
This I know for sure

We are an on going problem after problem
Without a solution to solve them
I hear Disney Land is fun
, and it is a place in the sun
So, but how do you get your water to come?
How do you get your streams to run?
Why does your trees not burn ?
, under your sun
It all seems like fun, to me

Does the poor stay poor in heaven?
And if so will I still be starving?
I get so frightened when I think
I need some water to drink
Sometimes I feel like the weakest link
To humanity and a world on the brink
, of wars I don't understand
But then, when I’m a man
, I will try and lend a hand
To bring peace, If only I can

They say I'm a dreamer of hope
My eyes are like a telescope
, to the heavens and planets within
Well maybe it's somewhere to begin
For up there is no hatred or sin
A good place to begin, is within

The sun is now fading to the right
And the moon now cloaks the night
The tears may fall, I know they might
I’ll hide under my straw and await the light
The dry heat of the sun will bring back my sight
And maybe a new beginning, I'll be able to write
For only then, you'll see my plight
