The Old City
The Old City of Jerusalem is a 0.35 sq.miles walled area and until 1860 this area constituted the entire city of Jerusalem. The Old City is home to several sites that reflect important features of the political and religious history of the many ethnic groups that reside and claim the originality of the historic sity. Among them are The Wailing Wall and The Temple Mount for the Jews, The Dome Of The Rock and Al-Aksa Mosque for the Muslims and The Basilica Of The Holy Sepulchre for the Christians. Today, The Old City is roughly divided into the Muslims Quarter, The Christian Quarter, The Jewish Quarter and The Armenian Quarter.
Whether official Israeli Territory or Occupied Palestinian Territory, in the maze of the interminable tiny streets of its Medina a crowd of traders eternally swirls keeping the Holy City alive through the ages proving that what people really want is peace and security especially for the young generations to come..
Many parts and areas of the Medina are extremely picturesque with old temples, decorated arches and old samples of islamic and jewish art as the photo shows.

Good use of lines to guide us along this walk among the shops. We feel a part of the scene !

steps of gray ginger-bread-like cobblestone, a descent into sacred realms of gold… it suddenly strikes me that if this were a computer game, it would be the much sought-after gate to another, more divine level, to cross borders, to enter fairy-tales, to complete quests, to break spells, to be allowed access to perfect worlds and to finally be saved – i guess it's an age-old yearning that makes us human… just as old as the ancient city of jerusalem itself! what a powerful image this is, alexander!! greetings, sabine.

A scene like from a picture book! Great light management. I think I would have worked a bit on the tilt though. No question about it - a great picture.

This is superb, your management of the light as it filters in from outside over those wonderful old cobbles is perfect. all of the boxes of oods or sale and that Lady in silhouette lead us perfectly to the end of the alley and across to that beautiful gateway.

    :))
