Zagorochoria villages
Zagorochoria form a bundle of very picturesque villages in a remote and mountainous site in the region of Epirus. Their origin dates back to late 17th and early 18th century with the male family members great experts in stone masonry building solid residencies and carrying the craft from father to son. Houses, coble roads and especially totally handbuilt bridges connecting villages through canyons, still survive in excellent condition. Until the past 20 to 30 years access to these villages required a strenuous trip on a strong car and, in cases of very bad weather, not to mention the exceptionally rough winters in that height, use of mules was imperative for the completion of the trip. Due to their remote location, most of these villages remained out of the reach and consequences of the Ottoman occupation. Presently the site has turned to a very pleasant holiday resort for relax and winter sports.

Boasting an excellent location, which occupies this small village in the beautiful mountain scenery. The people there are determined as a large family, no secrets remain secret in. It is good that there are such places, where other values are capitalized. A great photo!Best wishes, Roland
