Bones Chapel

This is a small chapel in the church São Francisco in Evora (Portugal). It is called the "Bones Chapel" (Capela dos Ossos) because the walls have been made with monks bones (skulls, femurs ...) for meditation purposes. At the entrance of the chapel we can read: "Nós, os ossos que aqui estamos, pelos vossos esperamos" which means "We, the bones that are here, for yours we are awaiting".
The ex-voto is a mummy.
Canon EOS 100 and USM 28-105 lens with Fujichrome Sensia 100 and Tripod. Scanned with an Epson perfection 1240U.
