Often, when shooting at a railroad station or an airport, I'll see my childhood self
"stand-in" and re-live those exciting anticipatory moments of travel...
love of trains (or airplanes)...taking in every detail, sound, or wafting aroma
of creosote, diesel, coal smoke, or warm electric traction motors...

Come to think of it, not much has changed, for which I am very, very happy.

In this case, the olfactory cues at the SNCF station at Chamonix-Mont Blanc would have
been de créosote et un soupçon de moteurs électriques...and fresh alpine breezes.

I loved the young lad's alert posture in this recently re-discovered moment from autumn 1994.
