Amtrak ACS-64 Sprinter Emerges from Tunnel on Approach to Baltimore Penn Station - No. 2

Early evening in Baltimore as Amtrak ACS-64 Sprinter-class electric locomotive No. 600 pokes out of the tightly curving Baltimore and Potomac Tunnel on the point of a northbound Northeast Regional train approaching Penn Station.

The Siemens ACS-64 locomotives, based on the company’s EuroSprinter design, began replacing AEM-7 (*) and HHP-8 (**) electric locomotives on the Northeast Corridor in early 2014, as well as along the Keystone Corridor between Philadelphia and Harrisburg.

No. 600, the first in the series, is named for former Amtrak President David L. Gunn.
