great to see you got a new display screen... have you checked on the possibility of fixing the laptop one.. it could be that the backlight lamp is dead and replacement is not all that expensive... many years ago when laptops were just coming into use, I had the same problem: my screen went black and I had it fixed for 20 bucks

Exactly the same problem I had a longer time ago. Fortunately now everything is fixed.
You have quite a large computer monitor with a very nice background image of Venice.

1. "dead as a dodo" (old screen)
2. "virtually alive" (new screen)
3. "really alive" (the snow outside)

Wie schön das es bei Dir nur ein Teilausfall der Perpherie ist.Tief durchatmen und fröhlich sein Adele!! All seine Fotos möglicherweise zu verlieren ist ja unvorstellbar. Bei mir beträgt alleine die externe Sicherung aller Bilder im RAW 380 Gigabyte......ich denke nun wirst Du wieder Gas geben. Wir fliegen Morgen nach Portugal und bleiben bis Ende März.Einige Tage hüten wir bei meinem Freund ein, der seine Kids In USA besucht und betreuen seine Hunde. Bis Bald Adele. Michael

I'm so pleased you've managed to get a step nearer solving your computer problems. No virus, that is definitely progress! At least you have a back up that you can use, brilliant, and a pretty dusting of snow to enjoy, even better!
I can even see your pretty multi coloured bauble hanging up at the window!
