Das Rote Schloß am Waldstein hatte seinen Namen vom Ziegeldach, von dem allerdings schon lange nichts mehr übrig ist. Die Burg wurde im 14.Jhd. von den Herren von Sparneck erbaut und im Sommer des Jahres 1523 vom Schwäbischen Bund zerstört.
