The Fungi World (272) : Velvet Shank
Velvet Shank is a typical winter fungus and one of the few fungi that really likes cold weather.
Snow, ice and frost do not harm.
This fungus can easily survive severe frost and as a consequence can be found (with some luck) all winter long.
Grows always in clusters.
Dutch name : Gewoon fluweelpootje
German name : Gemeine Samtfussrübling
Latin name : Flammulina velutipes

This type of fungus has taken almost the whole trunk of the tree for itself.A delightful combination of these finely illuminated colors of this fungi in connection with the cold white snow.
