The Fungi World (269) : Goatcheese Webcap
Goatcheese Webcap is a very rare fungus that stands on the Red List as almost extinct !
This species that likes to grow in coniferous woods, especially under spruce, has a very lilac to purple color when young and discolors to golden tones in aging.
This small beauty however has a disgusting smell !
Some say it smells like rotten potatoes, others say like a stinking old goat and still others like sweaty feet…..
Anyway, I was glad when the picture was ready :-))

German name : Bocks-Dickfuss
Latin name : Cortinarius camphoratus

I do not know how a old goat smell, but I can imagine that the smell of this rare fungus is far from good :-)This fungus looks totally cool by its blue color. If he is so rare, how long did you have to look for him ??
