The Yellow Brain is a greasy and slimy fungus with an irregular and brains-shaped fruiting body.
Can be found all year round, but in fact it’s a real typical winter fungus !
This fungus grows only in crevices on dead bark parts from different kinds of deciduous trees.
Dutch name : Gele trilzwam
German name : Goldgelber Zitterling
Latin name : Tremella mesenterica
: )))))) a "schlabberpilz" indeed! it looks a little like an unknown substance – a glob from outerspace… ; )) beautifully photographed, with the outline of the pond in its back! greetings, sabine.
A beautiful shiny blubbery mass - looking a bit like a brain indeed ... the light makes this yellow shine and brings out the lovely background of the lake. A fine capture, Mark !!!
wish you a relaxing weekend,
Adele
