Im Nordwesten Grönlands befindet sich der Uummannaq-Fjord, der auch im Sommer mit großen Eisbergen überzogen ist. Im Vordergrund sieht man die typischen, bunt angestrichenen grönländischen Holzhäuser der kleinen Gemeinde Uummannaq. Der Ort wurde im Jahr 1758 durch Missionare der Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine gegründet. Ca. 1400 Einwohner hat Uummannaq, die hauptsächlich durch Fischfang und Fischverarbeitung Ihren Lebensunterhalt bestreiten.

Personally, one of my favourite shots from my arctic travel pictures.The shot was taken in Uummannaq / northwest Greenland with a Canon T 90 on Fuji Velvia slide film; digitalized by Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED.
