Class Q6 63431 waits for the right of way at South Pelaw.
There is a story to this picture. We had asked the footplate crew for a ride on the coal train to Consett. The answer to our question was that the guard was going to fire the locomotive and the fireman was to travel in the guard's van. We could travel with him if we liked - so we did. Not a footplate trip, but a good second!
