The Living Forest (95) : Sea Buckthorn

It’s berries time.

Sea Buckthorn is a shrub that likes to grow on dry sandy soils, mostly in dune landscapes, but I found one specimen in a deciduous forest.
Those berries are among the most nutritious fruits known today !

Dutch name : Duindoorn
German name : Sanddorn
Latin name : Hippophae rhamnoides

They are not only nutritious, they are also beautiful. We do not have as many berries as the northern countries. This one is very strange to me

beautiful shot of the sea buckthorn! what strange oval shape! and what an outlandish name, too! i wasn't familiar with the english term at all! just knew the german "sanddorn", for my favorite kind of cough drops carries their taste… lovely sunny yellow! greetings, sabine.

Den Sanddorn sieht man in meiner Heimat nicht sehr oft. Ich habe ihn im Sommer in Holland entdeckt.
Die Farben der Beeren wirken hervorragend zwischen dem Grün der Umgebung. Eine feine Aufnahme!
