hi laura,
those photos were shot at a small track in eastern austria. i'm glad to be able to assure, that the dogs racing there do not have to suffer from anything (or at least not more than any other dog kept as pet). they are kept as members of the family they live with and additionally they get the possibility to do what they were bred for and what they really enjoy: race!
to give some examples, a friend of me owns three afghans, three generations, the oldest is 15 now. and at least one of the participating galgos was a dog rescued from spain....
i am not personally involved in this type of 'sport', which is not common here in austria, and i admit, that i'm not well informed about problems related to it in other countries.
nevertheless, thanks for your critical comment which caused me to add my explications.

servus!nein, ich meinte nicht den zaun. ich meinte unterhalb des zauns. durch die hundekörper sieht man vertikale störungen durchgehen ~ zaungitter im hundekörper.
wenn du sagst, du bist mit einem effektprogramm drübergegangen, dann könnte das von diesem programm kommen. kannst du die hunde maskieren und nur den rest weichzeichnen?
oder gar nicht weichzeichnen und nicht schärfen?

doch noch ein globaler fotograf *g*meinst du das gitter im hintergrund, das die bahn begrenzt? das wurde beim stufenweisen verkleinern und nachschärfen so hässlich (allerdings vor allem die horizontalen drähte), dass ich nachher mit einem weichzeichner drübergefahren bin. hab ich damit übertrieben und es ist nicht mehr als gitter zu erkennen?
oder war ich zu ungenau?
oder ist noch etwas anderes?
es würde mir sehr daran liegen, das bild möglichst fehlerfrei hinzubekommen...

(die vertikal durchlaufenden bildfehler hat glaube ich
die jpg-kompression erzeugt.
habe auch kein rezept dagegen)
