Woah, what an awesome photo!!! I LOVE it! :-D
Great work. The only thing I could criticise is that it's a little bit unsharp/ noisy.

The sun looks quite nice, but to say WOAH awesome, goes a little too far for me.
Sunsets are amongst the most photographed subjects in the world. So for a sunset to be awesome it really must be something very special. Imho this is not.
Besides the sun which looks ok there is very little interesting visible in this picture. Always try to find something in the foreground to attract the eye, and which then can lead the viewer into the scene.

@ Jaz:
Thank you, I agree with you that the sun looks great! That's why I took the photo.

@ Ruud:
You are totally right with your objections and comments on photography. Thank you for them. However, I don't consider myself a photographer, let a aside a professional. Therefore, I don't go out to take a photo but if I see something worth capturing, and I have the camera, I shoot. I hope I can become a professional in the future, though. :)

The Jaz, 24.11.2006 at 14:24h

Well Ruud, I don't think so: By putting an object into the foreground you would distract from the main content here - the sun. By only having a dark foreground and the sun, however, all your attention gets attracted to it, and I guess that was the photographers intention. As Senem said, that's why he took the pic: Cause the sun simply does look awesome here, almost unrealistic already.

Ruud van der Lubben, 25.11.2006 at 11:45h

@The Jazz, i think your comprehension of composition is a little too simple. Its quite clear that if you make a nearly black picture with as only visible object the sun that all views will be attracted to that sun. That is however not the way how composition works. The way you describe will create a very flat image without any depth, and therefore very dull.

Rob Brydon, 25.11.2006 at 12:36h

I have to agree with Ruud that a sun in the sky alone doth not a great image make. If for instance this sun was looking over the shoulder of Mt Fuji or Kilimanjaro you would have more to pull the eye into the image..You could have composed better with something even simpler like a stand alone tree in the forground. Nice sun tho..keep going, try a few more and look for more balance..Cheers..Rob

Well, tastes are different, after all. I still love the photo, and I admit it proudly. ;-)

Senem Tug, 26.11.2006 at 15:58h

Hi People

Just like to add to all above.

As Senem says 'No comment neglected' by well respect. I think in her vision simplicity of this sunset just about to touch the mountain while setting on the horizone is a fine touch. Technically, she has delivered a very good photo. Though these kind of photos has been done many times before but this is a good photo to exhibit on a frame. I am sure if she was in the mount Fuji, Kilimanjaro, Alps or Everest she'd do it again. ;-) The place is only important to the one that appreciates it. Anatolia is a beautiful place to explore with it is landscape and sunrises and sunsets. I agree this mountain does not represent what those mountains does to everyone but in Senem vision this is not relevant to her photo. She captures a corner of a landscape in her eyes as beautiful as it is.

I think critics in my opinion should be given by the technical points not the taste of ones liking or disliking. Of course the vantage point is very important but hey warmth of this sun it has it is pure point there. Without the sun we are dead. It is a warm and a simple burning fire.

Thanks
Kurtay
