hawai'i, big island, end of 'chain of craters road'

fed by the pu'u o'o vent, which is located upcountry by approx. 10 km,
the lava flows subterraneanly down the hills towards the coast.
approx. 1 km before the shore line it reaches the surface,
where it moves slowly towards the coast.
it´s surface cooles down very rapidly. but below this skinny surface, the lava is still hot and liquid and flowing.
so it squeezes the skin, sometimes showing these toothy mouthes.
