Salash = (Serbian) typical isolated group of farm houses belonging to a single household surrounded by the farm fields. Originally used for year-round dwelling, later occupied only during the farming season, now slowly dying out. A traditional landmark in Panonian Planes.

The first image in this serie. This serie represents my first attempt to shoot a short photo story. I was walking through the (mostly abandoned) farmlands, when this boy waved to me inviting me to come to their salash. He spends most of his free time with his grandmother. She's the last dweler on her salash. Her son lives nearby, yet shows no interest in farm work. His son, her grandson does. So, there is still hope! This is the story about the hope...
