Lepchas , the aboriginal people of the Eastern Himalays., live in the hilly aeas of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Sikkim, Nepal and Bhutan. At present Lepcha community, the smallest section of the multilingual society of Kalimpong and other areas, is, statistically, declining. The dominant community of this region with their values, customs and strength, alsmost absorbs this minority people at present.And at this stage of progress, Lepcha community is seriously lacking leadership of its own, like their King Gaybu Achyuk.
