The Bald Cypress growing to up to 40m is usually found in swamps and is deciduous, although her leaves look like tiny needles. She loses them in November, and trees and forest floor are covered in rusty red.
taken Nov. 24 in VanDusen Garden
…and after it's lost all its tiny "needles", it's bald! is that why they named the tree a "bald cypress"? or is it because its roots protruding from the water look like miniature aliens with little bald heads? whichever it is, my heart goes out to the rudely named plant! ; ))) a great shot and an eye-opener for me, as i have never seen this kind of tree before! and the "rusty swamp" is beautiful! hugs, sabine.
Good capture and presentation of those striking trees that likes to grow in swampy areas.
One can see very clearly the aerial roots (pneumatophores) this tree has.
If I were a tree, I would like
to keep my feet rather less wet.
But for a picture, taken by ADO,
I would jump into a pond and
say "cheese".
