Back to the early 90's, Saharanpur, about 150km North from Delhi, was quoted as one of the steamiest place on the Globe (well, at that time, most of the famous Chinese locations were still mostly unknown).
The loco-shed of the former NWR (North Western Railway) housed around 30 engines, from them about 15 to 20 were used on local passenger trains on all lines radiating from this busy junction, including to the capital city of Delhi. The remaining engines were usually under repair or out of service.
Nowaday, steam is long gone and the East-West mainline is electrified...
