This weekend my son Dawie and I braved the early morning to find some nice sunrise pictures. I saw this log lying very close to the side of the pond and decided to try and make an interesting feature from it. My space on the edge of the pond was very limited, so I tried to get as low down as possible and used my flash remotely to add some details to the foreground.
I'm speechless and very impressed by so much beauty and perfection !! Congratulation Deryck !!! Thanks for this new favorite :-)
Best wishes and have a nice week

watching nature peacefully waking up to the new dawn – must have been a great experience, and with this shot you're sharing it with us! amazing colors and mood – love the pink clouds dancing on the ripples of the water! greetings, sabine. p.s.: beware of the crocodile, though, treacherously disquised as a floating tree trunk! ; ))
Deryck, i love the mood of this image. very dramatic scene. good idea to use the log as a foreground subject. also good use of the flash to add some details to the foreground....though I must admit I seldom use flash to add details to the fg.......i mostly use the bracketing technique and blend them manually in photoshop. but you did a great job here using the flash. If you wouldn't have mentioned using a flash I would not have seen it. it looks very natural. Beuatiful colrs as well.
Yes we like the results, wonderful colours, and lighting up the foreground definitely was a good idea! And I like the deepness that you caught which is really amazing! Good work, Deryck!
Best regards, Massimo
It was so worth getting up very early to get this wonderful result! I like the twisted detail on the log and the pinky touch to the cloud reflections. It looks a very still and calm place to be.
