Seen this Caterpillar in the backyard this afternoon...
Thanks a lot Sabine for the name.....;-)) s. sabine krause found the name for it :
The Buff-tip (Phalera bucephala) is a moth of the family Notodontidae.
This is the Caterpillar and after the transformation it becomes a Moth .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Phalera_bucephala_MHNT.jpg
beautiful!! i just did a little google research ; )) and i think i may have identified it for you – yay!! found a wikipedia sight in german that shows both the caterpillar and the moth which they call a "mondvogel". in english it's apparently called a "buff-tip". but i couldn't find an equally illustrative site… here's the link to the german site: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mondvogel
He moves, he wiggles, as he wanders the blooming, buzzing garden world created for his pleasure by Fons. The soft colors, the composition, the depth-of-focus all seem to me to work well to make a striking image. john
Well done on your research Sabine and very well done to you Fons on your super picture! I like the way he is navigating through the tiny forest of pink flowers!
Hugs
