A Summer Afternoon at Gravelly Point

It's an airplane watcher's haven, just north of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

On this strip of parkland along the Potomac River, one can enjoy the sight of airliners roaring off Runway 01, or, when the
summer wind is southerly, the whoosh overhead as planes head for the threshold of Runway 19. Exciting in either direction.

I liked the way the colors of the clothing worn by the two airplane watchers coordinated
so nicely with those of the US Airways Shuttle Airbus heading for touchdown on 19!

Stunning - and again a photography taken in the decisive moment, defined by Henri Cartier-Bresson as follows: "To me, photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event as well as of a precise organization of forms which give that event its proper expression."

a shot with a certain nostalgic feel to it – don't know exactly why… something in the way they're dressed, something in their poses evokes images of the great gatsby in my mind: "look here, old sport, will the plane make it across the bush, or will it crash? what's your opinion, anyhow?" ; ))) greetings, sabine.
