Met colleague WARTH in Cologne. He has seen (and photographed) every corner in Cologne. Not every, I thought and went out to find a different place. Had to walk through dumps and mud, had to climb fences...but here we go :-))
This photo is especially for warth and here how it was done: Canon 5D Mark 2, five shots in raw, pre-work in Lightroom, before sent to photomatix programme for HDR, finally Nik Efex Pro b/w programme as photoshop cs 5 plug-in...and ready :-)
(Im not listing the screaming railway worker, the dog who tried to bite me and the drunkard who asked for 1 euro for which he would put his head on the rail :-))
Best wishes
Dirk
Is that really all you did to take this picture? How disappointing.... I don't recognize you, Dirk....:))
I expected swimming across the English Channel,
parachuting or at least bungee jumping:)
Anyway... even with not so long and arduous efforts, you achieved a mysterious and pretty frightening ambience. ..:) Really great.Congratultions. Bw, Viola
Ps. Needless to say, i admire not only your photographic talents but your courage as well.:)
But it was all worth your while, because this is really one of the best works I've seen from you. Fantastic editing, creating a very well working mood. Very well done Dirk!
Deryck
here's my first association: a picture taken in the darkest hour of the night by a grateful alien who'd just gotten out of his spaceship safely after having completed his the tricky feat of docking on safely to köln-ehrenfeld (ALF*). i really like the strange and suspensful "moonlit" atmosphere of this picture (and i do like it, when "hdr" really and literally "makes sense"! ; ))) – in this case, there's clearly some kind of expectation in the air! my favorite detail, though: the graffitied ace of hearts on the wall! greetings, sabine. p.s.: 1 € for a head on the tracks sounds like a real bargain – would have made a great splatter picture… ; ))))))
Creepy and shocking what you did again,
as well as the story and the picture.
Still: Great "work".
Cheers - A.
PS:
I would've put a nice pink or green frame with flowers on it around that picture, to make it more friendly ;o)
(you know, what I mean).
A sad sight, but one of many all over the world - reality behind the "pretty" sights .... and one should see it.
Your image is excellent - monochrome fits well!!
greetings, Adele
