The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is one of America's 'super fighters' of the 3rd generation of the 70's. With its swing wings, twin tails and sturdy appearance Tommy has always been a show stopper at airshows. The F-14 gained world fame because of the Hollywood-movie Top Gun of the mid-80's, with Tom Cruise laying down a bad performance as a fighter pilot. In 2006 Tommy (or 'Felix', or 'Turkey', as the F-14 was affectionally called by its crew) was retired.

Illustration was painted with acrylics on Schullerhammer G4 board. Slight touch-up with airbrush.

Hi Peter,

it's a very beautiful paint, congratulations!!!!
The F-14 Tomcat was in a very good movie too,
"The final countdown" with Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen and James Farentino. ;)
I like the Tomcat, that was the best ever. ;)
