To my regret, the high season of the fungi is over, but now that the snow has melted momentarily, I still found a few species in the forest that survived surprisingly well the recently snow and cold wave.
Here’s the first one : a few Candlesnuff fungi. It’s a very small but conspicuous species with a branched antler like form.
Can be found all year round, but most commonly in autumn.
The specimens in the shot are only 0,5cm high !
Dutch name : Geweizwam
German name : Geweihförmige Holzkeule
LG Fred
very primeval and bizarre looking, as it seems to be made of bone or horn tissue! if i were the scientist who discovered it (yeah right, keep on dreamin' ; )), i would have called it the "dinosaur tooth"! great capture and an eye-opener for me who's never once seen this kind of fungus before! lg, sabine.
