A Male Red-Winged Blackbrid

These birds with a very distinctive call live all year around in Vancouver close to mashes, wetlands, the lakes and ponds. The size and intensity of red in their patch is directly related to how successful the male is in attrracting a female (quoting my birdbook). The female of the species is not black but heavily striped brown with a marked buff streak over the eye.

Der wird mit seinem wenigen Rot dann wohl noch nicht so erfolgreich bei den Damen sein aber vielleicht kommt das ja noch!

Dieses schöne Amselmännchen hast du wunderbar erwischt. Bei uns gibt es diese Art nicht, ich find siie aber sehr schön mit dem roten Streifen
