Another shot of the beautiful baby Zebra. The herd is now expanded to 8 Zebras, with another pregnant lady among them.
It was very interesting to watch how the whole dynamic in the herd has changed since the birth of this little one. In the past months there was rivalry among the females, aggression from the male and as Mama Mia got closer to the end of her gestation period, the herd started re-organising and moving slower. I often watched the male staying close to his pregnant female as if he was watching over her.
Yesterday there was a complete new dynamic. The mother keeps on moving and the little one struggles to stay close. He is still a bit clumsy and sometimes jumpy when a bird suddenly flies up. Yet they allowed me reasonably close to them. I openly walked in their direction, watchful to see if there was any threat, but they just kept grazing and did not mind me at all
