While we were sitting watching the zebras playing in the previous shots, Anlie noticed this little Sparrow Weaver nesting in the tree above us. Suddenly my attention was divided, what shall I do, a picture of the Zebras or picture the Weaver. So I did both :-)
with his beige-and-brown plumage and chocolaty beak he looks gorgeous among the beige thorns and brown branches of the acacia tree! and i bet he knows it, why else would he be looking up, literally "swollen with pride" and happily chirping away?! great shot, as always, deryck! my favorite detail – apart from the bird, of course ; ))): the delicate acacia leaves (sharp and slightly blurred), the thorns, and the those dried blades of dried the sparrow weaver has collected – they provide "the subject" with a wonderful picturesque backdrop! greetings, sabine.
A wonderful capture of this beautiful bird .... and I like all his sharp/blurred surroundings making a little piece of art out of your image !!
best wishes for a relaxing Sunday !!!

We are very fortunate you are able to concentrate on more than two things at a time otherwise we would be deprived of this wonderful weaver portrait. Hugs, Viola
