Alone on the beach

Owing to its mythological reputation as the bringer of babies, the White Stork is very well known.

It’s a long-distance migratory bird that breeds in Europe and winters in Africa as far south as South Africa.

But not all White Storks leave on migration.
Birds that are too old or too weak for the journey stay here for the winter (it is generally assumed that about 25% of the White Storks population does not migrate).

The White Stork that I shot is such a ‘house stayer’ and now enjoys the winter days walking alone on the beach.
What else can you do when you're old and the rest of your family has left you…….?
