Domestic sheep are most likely descended from the wild mouflon (see picture below) and together with goats, it’s one of the earliest animals in history that was domesticated by man for wool, meat and milk.
In both ancient and modern religious rituals, sheep were and are still used as a sacrificial animal.
Here you can see the 2 shots in more detail and full format
it's necessary of course, and it must be a relief to have the weight of the wool finally be lifted off your body so you are able to breathe again and look forward to summer… well, despite all that i can still perfectly understand all those who despise the scissors, the stress, the procedure of public shearing. me, i'd probably be a shrek (RIP!), run off to a cave and hide my wooly existence from the farmer and the world! ; ))) before & after, like in a women's magazine – very funny! i like that! greetings, sabine. p.s.: http://youtu.be/1hSYJP42rH8
This image reminded me of my first dog Tombik..In summer when he had a cut he felt so ashamed being naked and hide under the chairs and bed for sometime till he got used to it :-))))
Very nice image Mark...
Have a wonderful weekend..
Cheers,
Canan
Going through your pictures I just found this beautiful Collage of sheep. What a good idea it is to present these lovely creatures in that way. Sadly most people here only see BBQ meat in them.... Best wishes Renate
