The bell-shaped Burgundydrop Bonnet (also called ‘Bleeding Fairy Helmet’ or ‘Bleeding Mycena’) appears always in small groups or clusters on decaying stumps of deciduous trees, particularly beech.

When the flesh of this fungus is damaged, a dark blood-red juice comes out.
