The Living Forest (133) : Blackbird

Winter is a hard time for birds living in the large forest, far away from feeding tables in the neighbourhood of human settlements.

This male Blackbird was desperately seeking for earthworms (his favourite dinner) during snowfall, but unfortunately for the blackbird, earthworms hibernate !

Dutch name : Merel
German name : Amsel

    Ciao, Mauro

They hibernate? Did not know that. Well please tell the blackbird he can fly here. Here the earthworms are all awake and making thousands of little heaps on my lawn

Oh yes,, he looks cold all covered in falling snowflakes and with this look in his eye. A very good capture of him in the deep snow and leaves.

    Ciao Mark, buona giornata.
