The Living Forest (117) : Shortage of Water

Water is a very important and essential basic element in the forest. It is indispensable for all living creatures : plants, trees, flowers, fungi, animals,…

The first part of the 2010 summer was extremely hot and dry. As a result, most streams in the forest were nearly completely dehydrated. Under normal conditions, the water level here is about 50 to 60 cm. higher then what you see in the picture.

This shot was taken in the ‘Hertogenwald’, the 2nd. greatest forest of Belgium and a wonderful place to walk and relax.

Inzwischen wird sich das Bild geändert haben und mehr als genug Wasser vorhanden sein...;-)
Dein Bild gibt einen schönen Eindruck dieser interessanten Waldlandschaft und die Verteilung von Licht und Schatten macht es sehr lebendig!

Ein ganz idyllischer Ort - wunderschön von Dir ins Bild gesetzt! Das Licht ist auch ganz prima!!!! Wundere mich nur, dass der Handlauf in der Mitte unterbrochen ist...

beautiful and "enchanted" looking! i particularly like the sunlit patches of it, and how that big branch is hanging across the footbridge! a place one would love to be in on hot days – the water and the thick undergrowth will preserve some cool, i assume… this year's summer was pretty extreme. in july everything looked burned and dry, and now, after the heavy rains we've been getting, the grass seems to mold on the spot rather than grow back and thrive… greetings, sabine.

This looks very natural, just a little bit like a jungle,
not a managed forest.
