The Fungi world (26) : Candlesnuff fungus
The party ain’t over yet !
It’s late autumn, but there are still fungi growing in the forest.
Look what I found : a Candlesnuff fungus. It’s a very small but conspicuous black and white coloured species with a branched antler like form.
Can be found all year round, but most commonly in autumn.
The specimen in the shot is only 1cm. high.
Dutch name : Geweizwam
German name : Geweihförmige Holzkeule
Latin name : Xylaria hypoxylon

Hallo Mark,das ist auch eine besonders schöne Gruppe dieser interessanten Minis. ich habe diesen Herbst schon viele gesehen und fotografiert, aber Deine Gruppe ist perffekt - und perfekt festgehalten.

Holzkohle, ja die kenne ich, aber geweihförmige Holzkeule habe ich ja noch nie gehört, geschweige denn jemals gesehen. :0)Was du so für interessante Pilze findest, unglaublich. Und dann machst du auch noch so schöne Bilder davon. Respekt, Mark!!!
