The lucky ones!

Egypt
Valley of the Kings(in mid-desert, near the Sudan borders).
Workers in the Valley of the Kings where the tomb of the legendary Tutachamon(dated 14th century BC) was excavated unlooted by Howard Carter in 1922.
I saw many of these men hard working in the mid desert, in Temp more than 40C and, knowing that great part of restauring and maintaining those ancient ruins is due to them, I asked an Egyptian friend who was with me how much was their day wage.
"Nobady knows", he answered,"nobady cares. Not even themselves really care. The fact they have a job is their wage. They are the lucky ones!"...

Are we able to understand their reasons for that behaving? I think no. This seems for us strange, because wage is the first thing we ask when someone offers a job to us.
Those men are the lucky ones? Yes! Have a look to, for example Germany, so many people have no job, no income, beside social welfare. For their pride this is a situation, I will not experience. So: they are the lucky ones!
    Best Regards

When a football player in the UK can earn £1,000,000 a month and these poor souls feel lucky just to have a job, then what a very sad and unjust world this is.
    best wishes,
    Lawson

As in so many places these days having a job is a luxury. Coincidence last night we watched a documentary about Tutankhamen
    :-)) Harold

If they have a job then they have a purpose in life, but surely a man deservs a living wage what ever he does.
An excellent scene showing the hot dry conditions that they work in.

    :))
