you have raised the bar again.. outstanding.
full of intensive expression....
full of experience as well as <wisdom> in early childhood....
extreme touching....
some have so much and throw too much away,
others have almost nothing or even nothing and 'ld be glad to have all what others threw away....
ancor' una volta: bravo per questa photografia, Sergio!

superb image Sergio. Your ability to create a story in your captures is moving...What must these children be thinking..Cheers..Rob
Intensive expression of the man and his "son". The title, the bicycle" supposes a certain richesse.

this could also be a great shot in BW. the boys looking friendly and cheerful. However, their bellies look like starvation oder disease
a wonderful picture...nice work
well captured. no tread on the bike, bloated bellies; life is not good for these boys. jh

Wow, so much expression again. Beautifull
This photo has been selected for the gallery with 60 pro- and 40 contra-votes. Congratulations, Sergio Pessolano :-)
Well...This is a story here...
We know all that Sergio is a great photographer, one of the best here for me.
But this one is special , I like the looking of the young boy...nude without any toy, or any food maybe....and seeing the nice bycicle in front of him...
Thank you Sergio... because your pictures are not just wonderful, they speaks a lot too!!
Hope you will enjoy this voting
Beautiful photo, but I'm in doubt: the cropping is not good (imho)... on the left side I would've cropped the small black strip away, on the top right corner I would've loved the whole bike steer.
Just imagine the same photo without the bike, it would even be stronger...although you would need a new title :-)
Thank you Olivier. But I cropped a wide part of the bike (I converted the horizontal framing into a square format) and I left only what was striclty necessary of the bike. The bike is an important element in the story telling; more it adds a special dimensionality to the subjects.

For me this is what makes a professional a true professional. Such a simple shot yet with huge impact & full of emotion. Always a joy to view Sergio's work & he's always welcomed by a huge army of fans here on FC. Always crisp & clear shots with beautiful colours. Great to see the world through Sergio's eyes. Without a doubt PRO!
You hear some clap-trap talked about images sometimes. The presentation is spot on and the crop adds to the story of the image. The dynamic between people and their environment is often what lifts an image out of the ordinary and certainly in this case. How do you make a bicylce disappear when it was obviously the artist inhtention that it said something about the subjects.
Without hesitation... PRO
Once again I find myself agreeing with Olivier and not seeing the story that DD sees ... Also I just can't stop looking at that little strip on the left side and wondering why it was kept in-frame by SP. Nice shot and certainly an improvement on the portraits but whilst many on here always love an ethnic shot I don't automatically appreciate them and can still see a lack of connection between the bike and the two children or indeed the bike's importance and also the poor composition on the left side. Skin comes across a bit 'neat' as well, as noted in the past.

Fotography is about images, memories and their interrelations, not about reality whatever that is considered to be. Focusing on technical aspects only and thus judging on whether or not there is a story simply reveals a very limited ability of imagination in the spectator. Technical skills are no doubt helpful, but they are just a tool. And this is not a tool only place, is it ?
I like it pro
wonderful story, but i am irritated by the texture of the skin... skip
Excellent photo, it is a shame that in the 21 century we found childs like this... well done...

I'd prefer it without the bike and just the kids + cropping is not too big a deal. But the clarity is absolutely superb and the main subject, I think - the 2 kids - makes me want to learn more! A small pro for me;-)
The fact that this image has caused such discussions in the gallery voting section makes it a pro for me. I like the contrast of the somewhat affluent looking bike and the wanton, distant gazes of the children. They are not even looking at the bike because it can not fill the need in their distended stomachs. The story is more important than issues of crop and enhancement. Pro
Im distracted by the left hand side, but i realise that a tighter crop would have been too close to the boys - Pro for everything else

Congratulations, well deserved!
Atle.
Thank you so much to all.
I received a lot of very different comments about composition, editing and so on, but my style and my goal is and will be always to introduce the beauty and the nobility which are always inside (and outside) the sad stories/images too. In my images the priority is for the emotion; then, just after, the content comes. I want that people feel as the persons showed in my photos live. And I hope they can reflect about the reason those persons live therefore. It’s simple. IMHO, to do this better sometimes it’s necessary some editing (for example about the skin texture) to improve the message of innocence and nobility of the subject(s).
That´s awesome! Greatings
F
Hallo again Sergio, it is just what you describe in your comment above that touches me. You have an amazing skill to describe humans and feelings. Your editing is perfect in my eyes. Who cares about rules? You get the point visible in your photos and that is what matter!
:-)
Atle.
It's too good not to make it one of my favourites. And the star is well earned. Congratulations!
