The bastion,Brasov
The bastion located on the bank of Graft breaks off the monotony of the surrounding wall. It was connected to the White tower by a drawbridge. The two storey building, relying on the surrounding wall, was built bewteen 1515-1516, and was severely damaged in the 1809 storm. In 1822 during restoration it was fortified with 3 supprotive arches across the river. Two of these were demolished in 1902. The bastion was relevant from the point of view of correspondance and defence. There are loopholes on the walls and crevices for pouring down hot pitch or water. After the restauration in 2003-2004 the bastion became a tourism monument. It houses one of the expositions of the History Museum Brasov: the artifacts made by the defenders of the town, the craftsman.

Multumesc frumos, Anca. Si pe mine m-au impresionat multe dintre fotografiile tale. Iti scriu aici pentru ca locul asta inseamna mult pentru mine. L-am pozat si eu adeseori.
