It looks like he's in charge of making percolation works in trying to get some gold granules from the water. I know this process, but seems all available tools which he can make use of are too cruel and not enough...The child, unforunately he is losing his whole life already becuase of having to get stuck there with the gold-mining job without receiving further education or teachings...
