Bis 1989 wurde die Luftbrücke zwische der City von Rio und S.Paulo mit Propellermaschinen vom Typ Elektra bedient. In fast 30 Betriebsjahren gabe es nur einen einzigen Unfall, obwohl die Maschinen teilweise im Abstand von 15-30 Minuten flogen.
