Wow! This is beautiful!!

Ngudu Brown, 13.09.2005 at 20:58h

This is too abstract for me: I cannot see more than a drawing that coukld also be done with another medium than photography

John Bennett, 13.09.2005 at 21:11h

Hi Wen I cannot remember how Vivaldi's Autumn from the Four Seasons sounds Wen so i am unable to judge. as for the picture how did you do it.

Wen P, 13.09.2005 at 23:59h

NB. Yes, highly abstract. I think of course you could possibly interpret the same in a a drawing or painting. Don't you think that the same could be said of any photograph?

Wen P, 14.09.2005 at 0:00h

John, Otto, Tony, Thomas, John, Don, Esti.
Thank you for the compliments.

Wen P, 14.09.2005 at 0:01h

John - It's a light painting. Have you ever been driving down the road at night and decided to take pictures of the headlights in front of you? It's no different from those streaks of lights that go across your picture - this one is just more advanced, interpretive. It comes from a lot of practice, experimentation, and a creative out of the box view, or blur of photography and art.

Here is Rick deGaris Doble's sight that should answer your interest.

Painting With Light
by Rick Doble

The digital camera has the power to transform photography from a realistic medium into a thoroughly contemporary one which can explore many of the spatial realms, concepts and passions of modern and contemporary painting.

In the later part of the 1800s the realism of photography freed painting to explore light and color. The Impressionists and those who followed used that freedom to create exciting and radically new imagery.

Photographers that tend towards using photography in this manner often have art backgrounds, are writers, artists and have an affinity for philosophy and modern expressionism.

Note: These are ALL totally photographic images edited in PhotoShop with what would be considered traditional techniques. These are pictures I could have done just as well in the color darkroom. There is no sandwiching, collage or any added images (except text in the Jazz and Blues series).

Here is a representation from 4 other series that I have done Painting with Light.

Solaris Electric is from a group on being one with the Universe through interpretation of theatrical songs. This one is I Sing the Body Electric.

Red Hot Jazz & Cool Blues is a series on my favorite Blues & Jazz artists. Red Hot Jazz and Cool Blues is dedicated to the people of New Orleans and my Cajun cousins.

Electric Silk Tie Dye is from a grouping of electrified images. (Sort of inspired by music groups like The Grateful Dead and Moody Blues.)

Quarks: In the Beginning: Form is from a series that questions Evolution/Darwinism -vs- Intelligent Design/Creationism, and begs that the two theories can co-exist. The series was inspired by an art exhibit at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory on subatomic particels.

Thanks Bart! I love the thought of you playing my picture. I tried to put a link to a midi of Vivaldi's Autumn but it didn't work. I like the idea of you playing my picture better! That's such an honor. Your new profile picture is wonderful -

Very nice of you Jo. I just love your pictures.

Wen P, 15.09.2005 at 17:17h

Valentin,

Thanks for the comment. The picture was inspired by my husband's love of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. His favorite composer. This series was a gift for him.

Wen P, 16.09.2005 at 4:55h

Sergio Sweetie, I'd say we are cut from a bit of the same cloth. ButI have to ask, who is the cute one?

John Holmes, 16.09.2005 at 14:19h

this series of abstract music and the one on quarks is top notch well done. jh

Wen P, 16.09.2005 at 16:18h

Thank you Holmes. It's my passion at the moment. Digital makes it possible. It's really hard to do it analog.

Jaime Crystal Maksoud, 17.09.2005 at 2:51h

Wen P, 17.09.2005 at 3:07h

Would love to see them Jaime.
Agree with Rick's site - a bit busy, you have to tune out everything to concentrate on the picture or article. I find his essays very interesting. I just recently found his works and I share a lot of the same thoughts. Don't agree with all of his images though.

Dean Linder, 6.11.2005 at 22:25h

What I thinnk is if the music was playing and you were to drop a few abstract colors they would form to the tone and tempo of the music thats what I think this has done, they have begone to dance.

Vesela M., 17.11.2006 at 19:59h

Hello Wen, I am enjoying a lot music through your view prism of space & form - it seems so oddly adequate. I am also going to check the sites you mention, thank you for sharing this! Vesela.
