Sanvitalia procumbens ist seit 1798 in Europa bekannt. Das Husarenköpfchen stammt aus Mexiko und Guatemala.

Verwendung: Diese dankbare und robuste Pflanze mit niederliegenden, bzw. hängenden Trieben, sieht etwas wirr aus. Sie zählt zu den einjährigen Sommerblumen und eignet sich als Balkonpflanze, Ampelpflanze, Bodendecker und für das Beet im Freiland.
