Das Malay Quarter wird auch Bo-Kaap-, Cape-Muslim-Quarter bzw. Tana-Baru genannt. Der interessante, historische Teil wird durch Rose, Wale, Chiappini und Shortmarket Street begrenzt, wobei sich der gesamte von den Kapmalayen bewohnte Stadtteil mittlerweile von der Buitengracht bis hinauf zum Signal Hill zieht.

Minarette und pastellfarbene Häuser prägen das Bild der im späten 18. Jahrhundert entstandenen Wohngegend.

Die Häuser sind wirklich so bunt. So etwas sieht man wirklich sehr selten ...
