Der Hauptbau mit seitlich angeordnetem Turm wurde 1401 errichtet, nach dem das Erdbeben 1356 nicht nur das nahe Basel verwüstete sondern auch den damaligen Kirchenbau der vermutlich aus dem 8.Jahrhundert stammte.
