I read that you want to receive some critique. I may not be a good photographer myself, but I want to try to give some critique.
Your picture remindes me of one of my works. A brown frog in a brown/green background. As in your picture you have to look twice until you see it. After I looked at my photo on the computer I wasn't sure if to like ore to dislike it anymore because the frog get's swallowed by the background.
It is nice to have a little search but I think the problem is that the photo lacks a fixing point and/or contrast. Even after finding the crab there is nothing my eye can follow or fix on.
If you see the picture from afar it's hard to get interested in. Only the title is trying to catch the interest, because it's telling that there must be something. To gather the interest of the viewer it needs something that peaks out of the photo, a saturated flashy color, or some well placed lines wich the eye can follow, or even proportions (fibonacci, golden ratio)
However, the sharpness is in the right spot. I like that you can examine small details of the crab. The position of the crab is also well chosen. It looks into the picture wich fits into the composition. The second point of interest is the little hole wich tells a story about the crab. The way the little fella is sitting next to it's home makes it kinda cute.
despite there is no contrast at all, if someone choose to look at your work up close, one wil finde a cute little story behind the seemingly empy beige canvas :]
